Hurricane warning (Red-II) issued in Belize; ONLY movement of essential service personnel on Wednesday

By Zoila Palma González: The Prime Minister of Belize, in his capacity as Chairman of the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), has declared a hurricane warning (RED – II) for the entire coast of Belize.
This means that Tropical Storm Lisa threatens the country of Belize and is likely to make landfall within 24 hours.
Two red flags with black centers shall be flown at all signal centers throughout the country.
The public is urged to implement their emergency plans and voluntarily relocate to a safe location.
The Belize government says employees should have enough time to secure their homes and properties in preparation for the hurricane.
Philip Goldson International Airport will be closed tonight.
On Wednesday, November 2, seaports will be closed at 7:00 a.m. and bus transport will stop at 10:00 a.m.
Schools will remain closed; however, those used as shelters must be accessible to the public.
General public traffic is discouraged on Wednesdays; only essential services should be operational.
Public officials performing emergency duties must be prepared and ready.
NEMO will open shelters at 6 p.m. today and be ready to conduct search and rescue operations.
